Grand Victorian Variations
All of our front doors are made the traditional way using utile hardwood with mortice and tenon joints. They are made bespoke to your exact sizes and have been designed by myself after working with period front doors for 30 years. Here are some variations you might like.

All four panels solid and stable. For privacy, security and weather-facing fronts.

The sweeping lower panel that made the original famous. Top two panels ready for glass.
For Glazing
Top two panels open for glass: leaded, etched or patterned, designed for your home.
You can tell when a Victorian door is wrong.
Fake wood grain, shallow mouldings, a handle that just looks out of place. A Victorian terrace wearing a mass produced door looks like it’s borrowed someone else’s clothes.
It works the other way too. Put the right door on and the whole front of the house shines. The neighbours notice before the paint is dry.

Utile is a dense sipo mahogany that stays stable and shrugs off weather. Mortice and tenon joints. Solid panels are . 44mm thick, made to your exact sizes.
It arrives unpainted and unfitted, on purpose. Your joiner hangs it, your painter finishes it, and your money goes into the door itself.
Thirty years of Victorian doors.
I started making hardwood doors thirty years ago and designed the Grand Victorian after restoring hundreds of originals: panel sizes on the golden ratio, moulding profiles matched to the survivors. There are streets in south Manchester where you’d pass several of mine without knowing – thinking they’d been there for 120 years.
